Estimated Sales

Estimated Sales is a very important concept to understand when conducting Product Research.

In Egrow's System, there are two types of sales: Exact sales and Estimated Sales. These values are both presented per month.

Exact Sales

Whenever possible, Egrow's system will scrape product inventory levels to calculate the exact sales. This is done by adding 999 units of a particular item to the cart (this is the maximum order size Amazon allows), then Amazon displays a message showing the maximum number of items available to purchase based on Inventory Levels. By doing this over several days, we can monitor inventory changes over time, which correlates with actual sales. However, this strategy does not take into account other factors that may cause inventory levels to fluctuate.

Fortunately, there is a relationship between Exact Sales and the Amazon Best Sellers Rank (BSR) of the product's main category. The BSR is an indicator calculated by Amazon that represents how fast a product is selling. Feeding this data into a neural network generates the estimated sales you see on Egrow's platform.

Estimated Sales

Egrow's Estimated Sales are updated on a daily basis so you can be assured that the data you are viewing are accurate. However, drastic changes in BSR can occur (and they do occur quite frequently) that's why if you add a product (you are interested in) to the Product Tracker, the estimated sales will become even more accurate because the algorithm that we have takes into account Historical Data and it will have more data points to include in its calculation.

Egrow prides itself in providing you with Estimated Sales figures that are as exact as possible. However, due to significant variability in daily BSR metrics, Estimated Sales should be viewed only as an indicator rather than an exact value.  It is only one of the many important key performance indicators (KPI) that FBA sellers should take into account when conducting product research.
